Welcome back from Spring Break!

Today we begin the final term of the Grade 5 year, so we'll be starting new units in many subjects. First though, I'd like to introduce Ms. Julie Russell, a teacher candidate from UBC:

Hello Division 4 Parents!

My name is Julie Russell. I’m teacher candidate from UBC (which basically means that I am learning how to teach and what it means to be a teacher). For the past couple of months, I’ve had the opportunity to be a part of Mrs. Startup’s class on Thursdays where I have met your wonderful children. I have had the pleasure of chatting with each of them and getting to know them a bit. They really are wonderful.

I am joining Mr. Clarke and Mrs. Startup’s classroom every day until the beginning of June. Under their supervision, I will also have the opportunity to teach your children some of the lessons that I have created. I’m really looking forward to teaching and to getting to know your children more. I’m also looking forward to meeting more of you! Please feel welcomed to ask me any questions or to come in to meet me.

Hope to meet you soon. Take care.

Julie Russell

This morning our school had a vist from a dairy farm who brought a Holstein cow and a two month old calf to our school for a very interesting talk. For urbanites like us, it is great to learn a little about farm animals and to see some up close!
Students are introduced to this lovely milk cow.

Charlie, at two months of age, already weighs 140 pounds and drinks the equivalent of two 4-litre jugs of milk per day!
